Iola BonggayThe Fish and Wildlife Service, an agency operating within the Department of the Interior, is the country's leading agency responsible for the management of fish, wildlife and habitats.
The agency's work is geared towards the enabling joint community efforts that would lead to the conservation, protection and improvement fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for their continued use by the American people.
In line with this objectives, the Fish and Wildlife Service has recently established the Coastal Impact Assistance Program wherein the agency will provide a ceiling budget amounting to $250 million to be utilized in conservation, protection, and preservation projects of coastal areas, including wetlands.
The activities involved in the Coastal Impact Assistance Program will include:
a) projects and activities that are geared towards the conservation, protection and restoration of coastal areas and wetlands
b) projects and strategies that mitigate the damage to fish, wildlife, and natural resources
c) planning and administrative projects that comply with the objectives of the Coastal Impact Assistance Program
d) activities that will implement a federally-approved marine, coastal, or comprehensive management plan
