Botany Interns for Botanical Surveys

The goal of the project is to recruit two Great Basin Institute (GBI) interns to be members of a four person rare plant monitoring team each year from 2019 to 202 1. One intern would be the lead botanist for the team, and the other intern would be a team member.

The GBI interns and staff from

Capitol Reef National Park (CARE) will collaborate to use standardized protocols to collect data on three federally listed plant species in the park.

Another goal is to provide the GBI interns with a variety of natural resources experiences.

Therefore the interns may also assist the park¿s resource management staff with revegetation projects, spotted owl and peregrine falcon surveys, invasive plant control and monitoring camera traps.
