Atheist Appeals to Court on a State Grant Awarded for building Illinois Cross

Robert Sherman, an atheist, legally challenges the Illinois state grant that was used to pay for improvements on Southern Illinois cross. The court, however, rejects his appeal; but, he says that won’t stop his litigation.


The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago affirms that Robert Sherman does not have a stand to sue over the grant. But, Sherman says his lawyers are now reviewing his appeal to be taken to the U.S. Supreme Court.
