Conflict Still Arises on $2.7 Million State Grant for High School Football and Track Field Renovatio

The $2.7 million state grant awarded to the city to renovate Torrington High School's track and football field still causes contention at a special meeting of the board of education.


The grant was written by State Rep. Michelle Cook (D-Torrington) in spring 2013 and approved by the Connecticut Bonding Commission in summer 2013. However, Cook told the board that even though Torrington students usually use the track and field, and despite that the district maintains them, the facilities were owned by the city and the grant was outside the board’s attention.
