Stratford Scores $135,000 State Grant to Help with School Security

Stratford is one of the 169 schools in 36 districts to receive funds in the first round of the Competitive Grant Program for school security, which is part of the Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety Act.

Programs involving the business, religious or residential community in planning, funding or implementing a crime prevention program, often in cooperation with the local criminal justice system. Anti-Crime Patrols; Block Parent Programs; Block Watch; Citizen Patrols; Citizens' Crime Watch; Civilian Crime Patrols; Community Watch; Crimestoppers; Crimewatch; Home Alert Programs; Neighborhood Watch Programs

Programs that provide advice and training for police departments; collect and disburse money in aid of injured police officers and/or support local law enforcement activities.

Programs that discourage preventable crime, obtain information from the public about suspected criminal activity, investigate alleged crimes, provide support for witnesses to and victims of crimes and reduce targeted types of crime.
